Established in 2014, Momus is an online platform for art writing and criticism that emphasizes ‘underrepresented art writers and under-addressed readerships.’ Based on ‘the conviction that art writing is integral to our cultural ecosystem,’ Momus offers a wide variety of features and reviews that cover figures such as Kelly Lycan and Peter Hujar. There is also a podcast hosted by Sky Goodden and Lauren Wetmore, which brings ‘Momus’s unique insistence on criticality into a more conversational register.’ It is both clear and intriguing that the magazine underscores the value of ‘criticality’ and ‘rigor’ while also seeking a broader audience: public scholarship indeed!
