Transitioning now to online publications, let’s start with a big one: Literary Hub. Branding itself as a site for ‘smart, engaged, entertaining writing about all things books,’ Lit Hub has in store a incredibly wide array of reading material: creative writing (short stories, novel excerpts, poetry), essays on news and culture (history, travel, politics, science, food, etc.), literary criticism, book reviews, readings lists. Notably, while Lit Hub features creative works, it does not accept original poetry or fiction for submission. Instead, they are ‘looking for stories about literary life and culture.’ As far as public scholarship goes, I am mindful of the fact that they accept ‘rigorous criticism for a general audience.’
