Afterall is a contemporary art research and publishing organization based at the University of the Arts London that focuses ‘on the value of contemporary art and its relation to wider society.’ It is principally concerned with two research areas: ‘Art Becoming Public,’ which examines how art is exhibited, institutionalized, and finally made into a public good, and ‘The Work of Art,’ which is essentially a self-critical approach to the close reading of the art object. A third area of study, ‘Art Pedagogy,’ has recently been introduced to the mix as well. The journal is published bi-annually, and accepts articles about contemporary artists, art history, and critical theory.
